Alex has been an active member of the Pittsburgh piping community since 2015. He competes in solo competitions across the eastern United States, Canada, and Scotland and has earned prizes at the highest amateur level. He also regularly performs with the Carnegie Mellon University Bagpipe and Drum band -- the reigning American pipe band champions in grade 3.
Alex has performed in a wide variety of events including weddings, funerals, university commencements/graduations, corporate events, parades, and even bag-rock concerts with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and the River City Brass Band.
Alex teaches lessons to prize-winning bagpipers at all stages of their musical career. He also studies under the tutelage of professor Andrew Carlisle, director of bagpipe studies at Carnegie Mellon University, and 13-times world champion with Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band.
Alex has also had the privilege of studying under other acclaimed professionals, including Alastair Murray, Andrew Walker, and Scot Walker. He has performed and competed with Ulster Scottish Pipe Band, Thomas I. Hall Memorial Pipe Band, and the Liberty High School Grenadier Bagpipe Band, where he served as Pipe Major and instructor.
